Tradgedy in Rio Spurs Benefit for Needy
Rickson Gracie, Rolyer Gracie and Flavio Canto Join Forces for Rio Benefit.

Wednesday, January 19th at 8:30 PM at the Escola de Educação Física do Exército, in Urca, three BJJ Legends are donating their time to assist in alleviating the effects and devestation in Rio this past week.  Brothers, Rickson Gracie and Royler Gracie will join Olympic medalist Flavio Canto and conduct a seminar for the victims of the tragedyf rom Região Serrana do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.

[social][/social][einset][/einset]"The idea is to have much more than a technical seminar. Our objective is to mobilize the martial arts community, fraternize and have the opportunity to see old friends so we can join and help the thousands that are suffering from this tragedy that ravaged the cities of Teresópolis, Petrópolis and Nova Friburgo.", stated Royler.  Royler is also donating the proceeds from the auction of a signed, pre-owned gi of his here on ebay.  Video of Royler inviting all to attend can be seen below - please share to spread the word, anyway your can, Facebook, Twitter, email, thanks.

"The "fee" for the seminar is a minimum of 5KG of non-perishable food per person. Our challenge and expectation is to collect over a ton of food." added Judoca Flávio Canto.

"It is extremely important for all practitioners, independent of the martial art they represent, or which academy they go, to appear and make the sport of fighting the tool to help society" completed Rickson.

"It is very important to note the complete support from the Exército Brasileiro, represented by Gen. Bda. Fernando Azevedo e Silva, Comander of the Centro de Capacitação Física do Exército and Liutenant-Coronel Ricardo Calixto, Chief Instructor of EsEFEx, who cedded the location for the seminar. We also have to thank the fundamental support from the Confederação Brasileira de Jiu-Jitsu, who let us use the same mats used in the Campeonato Mundial de Jiu-Jitsu." Declared Rodrigo Antunes, one of the event organizers.

The Escola de Educação Física do Exército is located at Avenida João Luiz Alves, S/No - Urca.

Diante do drama vivido por milhares de pessoas na Região Serrana do Rio de Janeiro, a comunidade da luta pretende dar uma demonstração de força e solidariedade.

Na próxima quarta-feira, dia 19 de Janeiro, às 20:30 na Escola de Educação Física do Exército, na Urca, três ícones da luta se unirão para um seminário único. O grande campeão de Jiu-Jitsu Rickson Gracie, seu irmão e tetra-campeão mundial de Jiu-Jitsu Royler Gracie, se encontram com o medalhista olímpico de Judô Flávio Canto para um seminário em favor dos desabrigados na Região Serrana do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.

"A idéia é muito maior do que um seminário técnico. Nosso objetivo é mobilizar os praticantes de artes marciais, confraternizar, ter a oportunidade de rever amigos e sobretudo ajudar milhares de pessoas que estão sofrendo com essa tragédia que assola as cidades de Teresópolis, Petrópolis e Nova Friburgo.", declarou Royler.

"O ingresso do seminário será, no mínimo, 5 Kg de alimentos não perecíveis por participante, e nosso desafio e expectativa, é arrecadar mais de uma tonelada de alimentos.", completou o Judoca Flávio Canto.

"É de extrema importância que todos os praticantes, independentemente da modalidade que representem, ou da academia que frequentem, possam comparecer e fazer do esporte de luta uma ferramenta de apoio prático à sociedade", finalizou Rickson Gracie.

A idéia dos organizadores é lotar o ginásio da Escola de Educação Física do Exército, que já foi palco de inúmeras competições de Jiu-Jitsu. "É muito importante destacar o pronto apoio do Exército Brasileiro, representado pelo Gen. Bda. Fernando Azevedo e Silva, Comandante do Centro de Capacitação Física do Exército  e do Tenente-Coronel Ricardo Calixto, Instrutor Chefe da EsEFEx, cedendo a instalação para realização do evento. Não podemos esquecer também, o apoio fundamental da Confederação Brasileira de Jiu-Jitsu, que nos cedeu as mesmas áreas de competição usadas no Campeonato Mundial de Jiu-Jitsu." Declarou Rodrigo Antunes, um dos organizadores do evento.
