Post-Workout Nutrition for Grapplers
When I first started playing organized sports about thirty years ago we were all told that water was all you needed after and during practice (it wasn’t called training in those dark ages). Next came Gatorade. Gatorade has been around since the late 1960’s and really took off in the 80s when the formula was purchased from the University of Florida. Everyone was drinking Gatorade to “Be Like Mike” or whatever spokesman was popular at the time. Fast forward another decade and someone figured out that adding amino acids (protein) to these drinks may be an even better option after training. As you can see, this is not a new topic by any stretch of the imagination but I’m hoping that I’ll be able to give you a basic and practical guideline on what you need after training, why you need it and how to use it in your training.

The basic inspiration of most of my articles come from the people in my life. To be more specific, the athletes that I not only train but train with. I can honestly say that I have a great relationship with them all, but I find it funny that when it is time for me to confront them about certain things in their life, they want to push the blame on someone else.
As athletes, it is our responsibility to make sure that we never miss training sessions, help our teammates to become better, but what about take care of our own bodies through nutrition. Nutrition is an important factor that is overlooked and not taken so seriously.
Now I am not looking for my BJJ athletes to be perfect when it comes to nutrition, but I do want to make sure that they are covering the basic requirements that their bodies need in order to produce they way that they want it to on the mat.
Here are 8 Nutrition Tips that are that will help you become the World Champion that you have dreamed of:
