New Patch Rules
Attention 2010 Worlds competitors:
According to the IBJJF website there are some strict rules regarding placement of gi patches.

Article 13 Rule 9 Shows this image with the proper placement for all your patches:
The Portuguese states "Above the knee", "Below the knee" -> "Leave a 15cm gap between the patch and the hem of the pants."
On the back of the pants the patch cannot be wider than 10cm. (Seems butt patches are out.)
Help a friend and pack a seam ripper. People were charging $10 to remove a patch in previous years.

2011 Pan Am BJJ Results
The Pans were a great time and of great fights. Few booths at the Pan Ams, but the competition came out.
As you can see from the results, Alliance takes the top spot in Adult (which is Men). Lloyd Irvin fallys to more than half the score for 2nd.
The Women's Class is won by Alliance, with Gracie Humaita coming in far behind and just beating Team Lloyd Irvin
Novice is taken by BJJ Revolution just edging out Nova Uniao..
Juvi's won by Pitgull BJJ.
Masters was won by the ubiquitous Gracie Barra...
Congratulations to all the winning teams and podium placements.. Excellent job.

Alliance, gained great ground with their win and 40 points in the lead, followed by Gracie Humaita and in third Carlson Gracie. In town include Fabio Gurgel (flying in from Bahrain and a week of Seminars), Cobrinha (who we are interviewing for the World Famous, BJJ Legends Mag & DVD) and Rafa Rosendo.
DJ Jackson wins Absolute Blue Belt
This Lloyd Irvin BJJ team carried both 1st and second in the finals with a little dispute about the submission by Willian Leanard who was disqualified due to an illegal choke. Lenard contested but in the end he stood as #2 - the two teammates swapped medals as DJ showed what honor and competition is about in the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Women's Division
In the female division. Tracey Goodell, won at lightweight, by armbar against Maia Matalon, from ATT.
In the absolute purple belt, gold went to New York. Renzo Gracie Academy’s Kay Stephenson over Ana Lowry, of Barbosa JJ
