There's been some buzz around Gracie Barra and their franchising changes that may soon come to their affiliates.  Link this to more information and at least one academy dropping from the GB ranks to join Gracie Humaita and  a recent decision to deny Gracie Barra their trademark on a logo submitted by a group called Gracie Barra Franchise Systems and there's some news.

Recent posts on BJJ Forums - such as this one on Jiu Jitsu Forums.com, indicate a change is coming. There's nothing tangible right now that we can point to, but the forum was buzzing in August and talk has been heard. GB, claims to have over 300 affiliated schools on 5 continents, which is a good size for any franchising organization

Royler Gracie reported to Caleb at the FightWorrksPodcast.com (also a contributor to BJJ Legends Magazine).  That he'll be fighting Eddie Bravo, most likely, at the ADCC 2011 championships in September 23-24 in England. Royler commented that everything has been worked out however no contract had been signed.  Until the contract is signed, if you follow these superfights, anything can happen.

The 2003 ADCC match of Royler vs. Eddie was a huge upset where Eddie won the fight as a huge underdog.

Guy Neivens from the ADCC responds to Royler Gracie's letter. Guy reveals more of the proposed deal and details surrounding the apparent fallout.

Mentioning "veteran matches" that would help promote the sport such as: Renzo Gracie vs Mario Sperry and the Royler vs Eddie match as a natual fit.

BJJ fans, grappling fans - it looks like it has come down to money plain and simple. It's good to see that $25K can be raised for a veteran match in this sport and hope other opportunities persist for the veterans like Royler, Renzo, Mario and Eddie.

Kauai's own Bobby "Da-Punisher" Castle. Bobby is a green belt, just turned 15 years old in February. He has over 75 medals, 10 championship swords & 2 Absolute Belts. Approx 60 of his medals being GOLD. He is dedicated and committed to his training, he pours his heart and soul into it. Bobby trains 6 days a week, sometimes up to 3 classes a day. He trains 9 Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes a week and 1 wrestling class. He was recently crowned 2011 Kids/Teens World Champion in Riverside, Ca, against 15-17yr green/blue belts and the following day won the Gold in the mens rooster purple belt division at the Southbay Open in Carson, Ca.
