Live from the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England the 2011 ADCC Submission Fighting World Championships brought its legions of fans some of the most spectacular action from the best grapplers in the world, that will be remembered in years to come.

Amongst this group of competitors was the 2003 ADCC Absolute Champion Dean Lister. After a brief departure from the grappling scene the 35 year old grappling legend made his return to action to the event shocking the world becoming the 2011 ADCC -99kg World Champion defeating some of the top grappling talent of today.

Andre Galvao vs. Pablo Popovitch, a rematch from earlier in the 2 day tournament.

Galvao is a comeback to the BJJ tournament scene where he has been a phenom after letting his MMA career take a back seat.

Semifinals Ending Strong at the ADCC 2011 in England

ADCC is coming to a strong finish. The semifinals are ending and there's a lot of action on the mat.

The ADCC 2011 Semi finals are looking hot. From Nottingham, England we've seen some great fights and match-ups you won't see anywhere else. Next we have the Absolute division and Renzo Gracie and Mario Sperry hit the mat in their Superfight prior to the Absolute finals. Here's a run-down on the fights remaining:

This fight is between the last ADCC's super-fight champion Ronaldo Souza vs the last ADCC's absolute champion Braulio Estima.   Braulio is considered the local favorite having his ties to England, but Jacare has come  off his recent loss to Luke Rockhold in Strikeforce.

After a bit of play back and forth, and Estima atempt at an arm drag to single leg which got Jacare on his back and from which he recovered back to his feet.  Looked like Jacare was saving his energy for the long game while Braulio is keeping active.  BE into the butterfly guard, with now Jacare trying to pass, Estima tries a footlack and Jacare escapes.

Mendes, Hall, and Corinha take the Mat at the ADCC

ADCC are off to a great start with the 66KG weight class.

In an uneventful match, Justin Radar won over  Timo-Juhani Hiryikangas.

Rafael Mendes and Bruno Frazatto faced each other on the mat. Off the mat as training partners they proved just as good for a match up.   Inevitably the 50/50 appeared with rampant footlocks, Mendes comes out on top with back control in points.

A tournament that comes around every two years, the ADCC Submission Grappling tournament is a event that features some of the best grapplers around, all fighting for one prize of being recognized as the best grappler in the world. With an all star roster already lined up to compete this year, the event promises to be one to remember. Amongst the group of competitors is an individual that will be making his debut in the under 65k featherweight division.

Hailing from Plymouth in the South West part of Britain is overseas sensation Tom Barlow who is a brown belt under Braulio Estima. Barlow began his BJJ journey in 2006. He was inspired to pursue the art after seeing the Legendary Royce Gracie dominate his opponents back in the early UFC days. <~Read more~>
